SOLD!
It only took a few days. Judah's concertina was sold to a player in Chicago who is very happy with it. We also have a very attractive bubinga instrument nearing completion. This instrument has a beautiful reddish hue, with a distinctive grain. It is a Professional Model and can be completed as either a Wheatstone or Jeffries system. If you are interested, please e-mail me at fedgley@cogeco or phone 519-991-3100.

New Heritage Edgley Concertina by Judah Zakoor
After working for me for five years, I am pleased to show you a really great concertina made by one of my assistants, Judah Zakoor. It is a Heritage in C/G Wheatstone fingering. It is every bit as much an Edgley as if I had made it myself. The body is a particularly nice piece of Jatoba with ebony trim and has matching Jatoba handles capped with ebony. This is Judah's concertina and he is offering it for sale. I have gone over it and played it and can enthusiatically endorse it. Please contact Judah at jdhzkr@gmail.com for details.

Check out our Facebook page. It is updated a bit more frequently, and shows what's going on in the shop, photos of the shop, etc. It is managed by Judah Zakoor, who has been working with me for about 5 years. Keep watching. The should be pictures of a really nice Heritage Model, made by Judah. "Rumour has it" that it will soon be for sale.....

New Policy
Whenever I make an error with an order, it is always due to a customer not using the official order form. Sometimes the official order form is not used at all, but I receive details over several e-mails. Sometimes, when I go back to confirm things on an order, different e-mails have been used to send me details, so that when I check e-mails that I have received from Johnsmith@netwire.com, for example, I miss e-mails from "Smith.J@netwire.com. From this point on, I would appreciate original orders to be on my official Order Form; and any changes to any order to be made on my official order form, and be resubmitted to me marked as "Changed Order" or "Amended Order." I have, at present, one concertina order on ten sheets of paper in the customer's bin.....very confusing! Sorry to be a bug about this, but using the official order form can save me time. Orders will be shipped sooner, and errors will be minimized. Thanks.....

New Photos and Other "Stuff"
Here are a couple of photos of another eucalyptus burl concertina with rosewood trim. It also has ebony handles with Eucalyptus capping. This will be sent on as soon as the owner returns from a trip to Australia.
I'm also announcing a few modifications to the standard Wheatstone layout. There will be two options with the Heritage models only. These options apply to the third row, right hand side.

This option will give
the same reverse C# usually found with the Jeffries system, but maintaining the same organization and
feel on the first four buttons. The F# on button 5 is the same one as the first
button on the draw on the first row but in the opposite direction.
Option Two:

This option is very similar to the idea that some makers
use, inspired by a famous concertina player who visits North America each year
to hold classes. The pros to this system is that it places the reverse options
of C# and F# close to the first or second finger and may be a bit easier to access.
The con is that it puts the A and G one position over from where they are
usually located.
Either option is an improvement on the standard Wheatstone
layout, which I will be phasing out. If ordering a Wheatstone layout for your Heritage model, Please select one of these options, copy and paste on your order form or e-mail. These opions are not currently available on my hybrid models, but will be available soon. Please contact me at fedgley@cogeco.ca or phone before 10:00AM at 519-991-3100 or Home 519-948-9149.

Now taking orders for Bb/F Heritage concertinas
I am now taking orders for Heritage concertinas pitched in the Keys of Bb/F. As you know, my Heritage concertinas are made the traditional way, with steel reed tongues, brass reed frames, dovetailed into a hardwood reedpan. Bb/F concertinas have a very sweet tone, and are very good for accompanying singing, or playing a lot of the Scottish repertoire that you might find in "The Skye Collection," for example. The Bb/F concertina is also popular with several top Irish players who use it as a second instrument. It can be played with the very same fingering to produce familiar tunes and melodies in different keys. i.e. Bb, F, C, and Eb, being the easiest. Please contact me at fedgley@cogeco.ca or edgleyconcertinas@gmail.com .

Instruments in the Works.
I am currently working on a few Hybrid models as well as a couple of Heritage Model concertinas. The Hybrid Models include an ebony C/G concertina. These instruments will be made with hand-made Italian-style reeds. The Heritage instruments include an ebony concertina with rosewood trim, as well as a bocote model with ebony trim. Both these instruments will use genuine concertina reeds. They are intended to be Wheatstone fingering, but could be changed to Jeffries if ordered before the reedpans are completed. The wait time for any of these instruments will not be long and should be measured in weeks, rather than months. These are not imports, but hand-crafted concertinas made here in my shop, in Windsor. Please e-mail me at fedgley@cogeco.ca for more details.
